Community Sponsor

• Assist refugees with the search for housing;
• Help newcomers navigate their new environment: finding schools, services, and employment;
• Offer practical and administrative support, such as help with registration, accessing healthcare, education, and local services;
• Create opportunities for language learning, friendship, and cultural exchange;
• Coordinate regularly -with other members of your Sponsor Group and with our team for guidance and problem-solving;
• Attend training sessions and stay engaged throughout the process.

You'll be sharing the tasks with 3-4 other Sponsors. More info here.

IOM offers comprehensive support, including:

• Training and toolkits for smoother communication with refugees;
• Regular check-ins during the sponsorship year;
• Help desk and peer support networks for advice and problem-solving;
• Guidance on cultural and practical challenges.

Sponsor Groups receive onboarding training, covering:

• Sponsorship roles, expectations, and responsibilities;
• Cultural awareness and sensitivity training;
• Practical guidance for providing housing and integration support;
• Resources for addressing challenges and empowering refugees.

You'll receive a certificate of participation.
