Vrijwilligerspunt Gent is committed to make volunteer work in Ghent more accessible and inclusive. Vrijwilligerspunt Gent supports and launches various projects with partners for (candidate) volunteers and organizations in Ghent and has its own coaching programme "Duowerking" with volunteers.
In the spring of 2021, the Agency for Integration & Inburgering organized four webinars about volunteers with a migration background. They invited, among others, the Ghent organization Refu Interim. Click here to rewatch these inspiring webinars!
In 2021, Vrijwilligerspunt Gent joined forces with Kwadraet to create this pilot project. Together with 10 Ghentian organizations who work with volunteers, they will take steps towards more inclusive volunteering. Organizational development takes place through tailor-made programs and in groups, under the supervision of Kwadraet.
Tools, signals and tips that emerge during the project will be shared with other volunteering organizations (timing is spring 2022).
Refu Interim is not a real job office. They look for volunteer work for people who are new in Belgium. This way Refu Interim connects awesome people with awesome organizations.
Volunteers who need extra support and coaching in their search for volunteer work can contact the volunteercoach of OBRA|BAKEN. This project was started in 2021 in collaboration with Vrijwilligerspunt Gent.
Potential volunteers, who for one reason or another (eg physical disability, different mother tongue, burn out, …) need support to become a volunteer, can call on a duo-volunteer from Vrijwilligerspunt Gent. The duo-volunteer joins in the search and guides the volunteer-to-be to the start of the volunteering engagement. We look at the possibilities instead of the limitations of the potential volunteer, in this way the hesitation of organizations is also overcome to open up to more diverse volunteers. A win win!
